Our modem only needs mobile coverage with a “decent” signal, i.e. “1-2 bars” are needed and sufficient. Our SIM can connect to all the major operators.

If the Aqvify box is to be placed in e.g. a concrete ring, obviously impenetrable walls – or where there is very poor coverage – then we recommend buying an external antenna.

Connection Cable

The connection cable is run between the sensor/well and the Aqvify box. The voltage in the connection cable is 12 Volt.

The Aqvify box is often located right next to the well, e.g. inside a pump house, but sometimes far away (when the Aqvify box should be located next to an electrical outlet). The maximum recommended length of the connection cable is 100 meters. The cable should be protected from loads (eg. vehicles) and, of course, should not be laid in such a way that it risks hurting someone (e.g. tripping over it).

Standard lengths are 3, 10 and 25 meters. Larger lengths are also available on “rolls”. Contact hello@aqvify.com for questions or larger cable lengths.

Sensor cable

The sensor is permanently lowered into the water well and at most to just above the pump. If there is no submersible pump in the well, the sensor can be lowered to the bottom. The pump normally hangs 5-7 meters above the bottom in a drilled well.

Our experience is that a cable length exceeding 30-40 meters is rarely needed, even if the hole/pump is deeper. This is because the water level is rarely used deeper than that.
You can of course order longer cable if you wish – and especially if you know that a) there is a low groundwater level (deeper than 10-15m) in the well, b) if water filters with backwashing are used (high consumption) or c) if you know that the well is used to a deep level.

If the cable turns out to be too long during installation, it is fine to leave it loosely wrapped above the well.

In Sweden and with a little luck, your well may be included in SGU’s database Wells, where well depths are indicated.

Standard lengths for the sensor cable are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and whole tens up to 90 meters.

Larger lengths are no problem, contact us.
