How Aqvify monitors your water tank

How Aqvify measures your water well

Step 1: The pressure sensor in your tank

A waterproof pressure or level sensor sits at the bottom of your water tank. It measures the water column above it every minute, calculating level, volume, inflow, and usage. No maintenance required once installed. Works in vertical cylindrical, horizontal cylindrical, and rectangular tanks.

Step 2: Connected to the Aqvify Box

The sensor connects via cable to the Aqvify Box, mounted nearby. The Box transmits a reading every single minute via WiFi. No WiFi at the tank? The optional mobile upgrade includes a built-in eSIM and mobile data, with the first year included.

Step 3: Your water tank in the app

Open the Aqvify app and see your tank’s real-time level, volume, fill percentage, and usage history. Share access with family members, a farm manager, or a property caretaker. Set alerts at whatever threshold makes sense and get push notifications or e-mails the moment a level is crossed.

The sensor measures the water column and calculates level, volume, inflow, fill rate, and triggers level alarms. All visualised in the Aqvify app. For water tanks, storage tanks, supply tanks, and reservoirs at homes, farms, shared properties, and remote sites.

Monitor your water tank

Continuous water tank monitoring gives you control you cannot get any other way. It covers supply, usage, and the early warning signs of problems developing.

Rural homes and private water supplies

If your home relies on a private water tank rather than mains supply, there is no safety net when it runs dry. Aqvify gives you real-time level and volume data so you can see exactly how many days of supply remain, adjust consumption, and receive a low-level alert before the tank empties. A high-level alert catches a faulty float valve or stuck inlet before it wastes hundreds of litres undetected.

Holiday homes and rental properties

A holiday home or rental property can go weeks without anyone on site. Seasonal usage spikes and equipment faults can drain a tank far faster than anticipated. With Aqvify, you know the level from anywhere in the world and get notified immediately if something changes. No emergency surprises between visits.

Farms and smallholdings

Agricultural water tanks serve livestock, irrigation, crop spraying, and wash-down. Each use draws at a different rate and any one of them can drain a tank unexpectedly. Aqvify tracks consumption in real time, flags unusual usage spikes, and keeps farm managers informed across multiple tanks from a single app.

Shared communities and multi-property supplies

When a water tank serves multiple homes, no single person has full visibility and problems tend to surface only when it is already too late. Aqvify gives every authorised user access to the same real-time data. Collective usage is visible, leaks show up in the trend data, and everyone can be notified simultaneously when a threshold is crossed.

For permanent residence and holiday home

“Now I have full control”

“With Aqvify, the whole family finally knows how much water we can use. We also had an incident where a coupling broke after working on the pump and the well started to empty. The alarm from Aqvify saved the situation. I recommend Aqvify to anyone with a water well or tank.”

Karolina Renhed

For water production

“Solid track on water production and levels”

“We are extremely satisfied with what the product and service have delivered, right from day 1. Easy to install, great support when questions arose at the beginning. We have a solid track on water production and water levels in the tank in real time, and we also see the daily water consumption.”

Water tank level monitoring: everything you need to know

A water tank level monitor gives you continuous, automated visibility into the most important variable in your water supply: how much is left. For anyone relying on a private water tank, whether for a rural home, a farm, a shared community, or a remote property, that visibility is the difference between managing your supply confidently and discovering a problem too late.

What causes a water tank to empty unexpectedly?

Most unexpected water tank shortages have one of four causes. A pump has failed and the tank is no longer refilling. A float valve or inlet has stuck, either preventing inflow or allowing overflow. Usage has increased significantly from extra occupants, a seasonal change, or an irrigation system running longer than planned. Or there is a leak in the tank itself, in the connecting pipework, or in the distribution system downstream.

Every one of these scenarios produces a distinct pattern in the level data. A pump failure shows as a steadily declining level with zero inflow. A stuck-open inlet shows as a level that never drops even during heavy usage. Unexpected high usage shows as a faster-than-normal draw-down rate. A leak shows as usage continuing overnight when no one is drawing water. Aqvify records a reading every minute, so these patterns become visible long before the tank reaches a critical level.

How does a water tank level sensor work?

The Aqvify sensor uses submersible pressure technology. Placed at the bottom of the tank, it measures the weight of the water column above it. Water exerts a measurable and consistent pressure proportional to its depth, so as the level rises or falls, the pressure changes accordingly. The sensor converts that pressure reading into a precise level measurement, which the Aqvify Box transmits every minute via WiFi or mobile network to the cloud and then to your app.

Can you monitor a water tank remotely?

Yes. The Aqvify app works on any smartphone with an internet connection, anywhere in the world. The tank data updates every minute, so whether you are in the same building or on the other side of the world, the reading in the app reflects the current situation. Alerts arrive as push notifications or emails the moment a threshold is crossed. No manual checking required.

What level should I set the alarm at?

For a low-level alert, most users set the threshold at 20 to 30 percent of tank capacity. This gives several days of normal usage to investigate the cause and take action before the tank runs dry. For a high-level alert, 90 to 95 percent is a common threshold. This catches overflow situations before they waste water or cause waterlogging.

Does Aqvify work with my type of water tank?

Aqvify works with all common tank configurations: vertical cylindrical, horizontal cylindrical, rectangular, and open reservoirs. You enter the tank dimensions in the app during setup and the system calculates volume automatically. Installation involves lowering the sensor to the bottom of the tank through the access hatch. No modification to the tank is required.
