Växa has tested Aqvify in agriculture: “A useful tool for monitoring your well”
Växa Sverige has tested Aqvify on two farms in western Sweden as part of the Knowledge Hub for the Digitalisation of Agriculture. The results show that digital monitoring of a well’s water level can give farmers better insight, earlier warnings and improved preparedness for periods of water shortage.
Water is one of agriculture’s most important resources, but many farms still lack continuous monitoring of the water level in their wells. In a project carried out during 2024–2025, Växa Sverige therefore tested Aqvify, a digital pressure sensor that measures the water column in the well and displays the data directly in an app. Växa Sverige is Sweden’s largest livestock association and a nationwide advisory and service organisation working for a sustainable, profitable and competitive Swedish agricultural sector. The test was carried out on two farms in Varberg and Vårgårda.
In its final report, Växa describes the technology as user-friendly and as a useful tool for getting to know one’s well and understanding variations over time. The app provides an overview of the water level, shows minimum and maximum levels, and makes it possible to set alarms when the level drops below selected thresholds.
According to the report, the main benefit of Aqvify is that farmers can monitor their wells continuously, detect changes in time and take action before the water level becomes critical. Växa also highlights the ability to download statistics to Excel as a valuable tool for follow-up, environmental documentation and as supporting data in various contexts.
At the same time, the report notes that Aqvify should primarily be seen as a system for water-level monitoring. For those who need exact measurement of water consumption, Växa recommends supplementing it with a separate flow meter.
Växa’s conclusion is that Aqvify is a clear and cost-effective solution for farms that want better control of their water supply. Overall, the system is described as a useful tool for farmers who want to monitor their wells, understand their water system and strengthen preparedness for future climate challenges.
